Maj. Gen. Darren W. McDew, commander of the Air Force District of Washington (AFDW) provided the venue for the Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region Commander's Conference at Joint Base Andrews, Md. on Nov. 15, 2011. McDew welcomed more than 50 attendees - commanders and their staffs from all services and the National Guard in the Military District of Washington to the Jacob E. Smart building.

Maj. Gen. Michael S. Linnington, commander of Joint Force Headquarters - National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington (JFHQ-NCR/MDW), hosted the conference and presented opening comments. The facilitator for the conference was Maj. Michael J. Trotter, J35 Plans JFHQ-NCR/MDW.

Briefs during the day included a variety of key topics. Capt. Mary Lent, AFDW, gave the AFDW Overview brief. The following briefs were given by JFHQ-NCR/MDW staff members: the Operational Timeline for/FY12 Exercise Overview - Cory Wright, J37 Training and Exercises (J3); The Emergency Preparedness in the NCR Overview Brief - Maj. Mike Nesbitt, J36 (J3:3600 Lead Planner; Continuity of Operation Brief Lt. Col. Les Moton, J35 Plans (J3); and the 2013 Inauguration Planning Update - Mike Wagner, J35 National Events (J3).

Maj. Latrice Davis, Joint Task Force-Civil Support, Fort Eustis, Va., gave an overview brief on Joint Task Force-Civil Support. The final brief on Joint Emergency Family Assistance Center was given by Col. Mark Kelly, JFHQ-NCR/MDW G1.

Discussions and a question and answer session was held after each brief. Quarterly Commander's Conferences are held to provide commanders in the National Capital Region and their staffs with current information and to sync important dates and training schedules.
