IED component cache located in Panjwa'i

KANDAHAR PROVINCE, Afghanistan -- Afghan National Civil Order Police and coalition Special Operations Forces discovered a cache used for storing components for the construction of improvised explosives devices while on patrol in the Panjwa'i district, Oct. 26.

The combined force discovered the cache following a small arms engagement with insurgents in the area.

The cache consisted of 100 pounds of homemade explosives, three fully operational pressure plate triggering devices, 120mm mortar casings, approximately 200 rounds of ammunition and other items used for making IEDs.

The explosives, along with all their components, were safely destroyed on site by the combined force.

No civilian casualties and no property damage resulted from these operations.
