FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Oct. 25, 2011) Almost 200 Soldiers, civilians and Family members associated with U.S. Army Forces Command attended a Family Readiness Group welcome event today.

Gen. David M. Rodriguez, the FORSCOM commander, said the event had been organized because there was concern that with the move from Fort McPherson over the past year, the addition of new personnel and the effort put into maintaining operations during the transition that a proper orientation had not been held welcoming the FORSCOM Family to Fort Bragg.

Mrs. Ginny Rodriguez also spoke about how, although this is the fourth time she has lived here, she still finds it challenging to find her away around the post and Fayetteville due to all the changes that have resulted from local growth, new construction and unit moves.

Bob Harrison of the FORSCOM Public Affairs Office gave the official FORSCOM briefing, and John Meroski, president and CEO of the Fayetteville, N.C., Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, expressed the town's appreciation for the Army and talked about the many activities and events Fayetteville has to offer for service members and their Families.

A small information fair was held in the pre-function area of the FORSCOM/U.S. Army Forces Command joint headquarters building. Representatives from organizations such as the Fort Bragg Morale, Welfare and Wellness; the post's Emergency and Fire Services; the Army Child, Youth and School Services; the Fayetteville Veterans Administration Medical Center; and Autumn Care of Fayetteville.
