FORT STEWART, Ga. - Fort Stewart's Army Community Service Remember Me Support Group held its first Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day at ACS, Oct. 15. Pregnancy and Infant Remembrance Loss Day is a national day for Families to remember the loss of a child whether miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, still birth or the loss of an infant. The House of Representatives made this a national day by passing Resolution #222 in September 2006. At Fort Stewart, 26 Families lit a luminary in memory of the loss of their child.
The ACS Remember Me Support Group is spearheaded by Sgt. and Mrs. Nichcole De Kok. It is a new support group for military caregivers (parents, grandparents, guardians, etc.) who have lost a child. The De Koks lost their only child, Sophia, in July of this year.
