REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- Centuries of military experience gathered at the

U.S. Army Materiel Command headquarters here for the AMC Former Commanders

Conference, Sept. 28-29.

Nine retired four and three star generals traveled to Huntsville, Ala. to

share wisdom and solutions with Gen. Ann Dunwoody, current AMC commanding

general, and the principal staff.

The conference included a tour of the AMC facility, round table discussions,

and oral history interviews to document AMC's nearly 50 year legacy of

supporting the warfighter.

During historical interviews, the retired general officers reflected on

major organizational changes implemented during their tenure, challenges,

accomplishments, and offered words of wisdom to the current workforce.

Attendees included: Gen. (ret.) Benjamin Griffin (Nov. 2004 - Nov. 2008);

Gen. (ret.) Paul Kern (Oct. 2001- Nov. 2004); Gen. (ret.) John Coburn (May

1999 - Oct 2001); Gen. (ret.) Johnnie Wilson (Mar. 1996 - May 1999) ; Gen.

(ret.) Leon Salomon (Feb. 1994 - Mar. 1996) ; Gen. (ret.) William Tuttle,

Jr. (Sept. 1989 - Jan. 1992) ; Gen. (ret.) Louis Wagner (Apr. 1987 - Sept.

1989); Lt. Gen. (ret.) George Sammet, Jr. (Feb. 1977- May 1977); Gen. (ret.)
