WATERVLIET ARSENAL, N.Y. -- The Watervliet Arsenal hosted on August 23rd, Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, who is the 52nd Adjutant General of New York State. The New York National Guard Command Sergeant Major, Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Wicks, also attended the briefings and tour. This was the first formal visit by Maj. Gen. Murphy to the Watervliet Arsenal and he was shown the entire process of large caliber manufacturing, from concept development to the finished product.

Maj. Gen. Murphy also received from the Army's Benet Laboratories a great understanding of the synergistic effect achieved by having the research and design engineers within a five-minute walk of the machinists who will manufacture the product that Benet engineers designed. Benet Labs, which is a premier research, design, and prototype center for large caliber weapons, has been a formal part of the Arsenal since 1962.
