Maintenance facility tour

KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan"The 401st Army field Support Battalion-Kandahar hosted U.S. Forces-Afghanistan deputy commanding general for support, Maj. Gen. Timothy P. McHale, here Aug. 15.

During the visit McHale spoke Soldiers, Civilians and contractors of the 401st AFSBn-KAF to ensure that they were prepared for the coming draw down of U.S. forces from Afghanistan in the coming months. He also presented two Bronze Stars to and visited maintenance areas the battalion operates.

"It's going to get tougher. One out of every three people will be gone." Said McHale. "At the same time we have to maintain the momentum."

McHale also encourage the members of battalion saying, "We are giving them [Afghans] the opportunity of hope." He went on to compare Afghanistan to a once rural Korea, reminding those present what American forces were able to do for the Koreans after nearly 50 years of war and occupation.

The general presented Staff Sgt. Timothy J. Sutter and 1st Lt. Ceron A. Pugh with Bronze Stars for their exemplary service during their deployment.
