Terry receives nomination for promotion, new assignment: Milley will serve as next division commande

FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- President Barack Obama has nominated Maj. Gen. James L. Terry, 10th Mountain Division (LI) and Fort Drum commander, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and a new assignment as commanding general of V Corps, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army.
Terry, who has served as the installationâ€™s comanding general since September 2009, currently serves as commander of the International Security Assistance Forceâ€™s Regional Command South in Afghanistan.
Upon returning from Afghanistan, Terry will relinquish command to Maj. Gen. Mark A. Milley, who currently serves as deputy director for regional operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Chief of staff of the Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey announced Thursday that Milley would serve as the next division and Fort Drum commander.
Terry received a commission as an infantry second lieutenant from North Georgia College in June 1978. He received a masterâ€™s degree from Webster University, National Defense University and the U.S. Naval War College. He has served in Germany; Fort Campbell, Ky.; Dahlonega, Ga.; Korea; Norfolk, Va.; Kuwait; Hawaii; and Fort Polk, La.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with three oak leaf clusters, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge.
Milley is no stranger to Fort Drum. He served as 2nd Brigade Combat Teamâ€™s executive officer and in various staff positions from June 1993 to June 1996 deploying to Haiti during Operation Uphold Democracy. He returned to the North Country to serve as 2nd BCT commander from May 2003 to July 2005 where he deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.
He was commissioned a second lieutenant in June 1980. He received his bachelorâ€™s degree from Princeton University and masterâ€™s degree from Columbia University and the U.S. Naval War College.
Milleyâ€™s assignments include Fort Bragg, N.C.; Fort Ord, Calif.; Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Fort Drum; Fort Polk, La.; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Washington, D.C., and Fort Campbell, Ky.
His overseas assignments include Sinai, Egypt; Bogota, Columbia; Operation Uphold Democracy (Haiti); Korea; Bosnia-Herzegovina; Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Meanwhile, Command Sgt. Maj. Christopher K. Greca, 10th Mountain Division (LI) and Fort Drum senior enlisted adviser, also has been selected for a new assignment as the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center command sergeant major at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Greca entered the Army as an infantryman in 1986. His assignments include Fort Benning, Ga.; Fort Lewis, Wash.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Hunter Army Airfield, Ga.; Fort Polk, La., and Korea and deployments during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
