WASHINGTON, Aug. 10, 2011 -- The Joint Task Force National Capital Region Medical, in conjunction with the Military Treatment Facilities, launched a new beneficiary reassignment hotline, dedicated exclusively to those beneficiaries affected by the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission reassignment process. This hotline provides beneficiaries in the National Capital Region another option for addressing questions or comments regarding their new MTF and Primary Care Manager reassignments.
The beneficiary reassignment hotline is operational Mondays through Fridays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (ET). The hotline number is 202-782-3376.
“This hotline is another example of our commitment to patient-centered care in the NCR (National Capital Region),” aid Col. Arthur de Lorimier, M.D., JTF CapMed clinical operations. “Beneficiaries affected by the BRAC beneficiary reassignment process will now have a more personal option to address their questions or concerns regarding their reassignments.”
The JTF CapMed also encourages beneficiaries to continue sending their beneficiary reassignment questions or comments to JTF CapMed at jtfcapmedquestions@med.navy.mil. To complement the hotline and email options, JTF CapMed will continue to maintain the Beneficiary Reassignment section of the website with the latest information at http://capmed.mil/faq-reassignment-of-beneficiaries/.
Beneficiaries who were not part of the 2005 BRAC reassignment process should continue contacting their Military Treatment Facility's, or MTF's, TRICARE Service Center with benefits or enrollment questions.
The 2005 BRAC recommendations set the foundation for a new integrated health care delivery system in the NCR. This new system is anchored by the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, or WRNMMC, in Bethesda, Md. and the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, or FBCH, at Fort Belvoir, Va., and includes other MTFs in the area.
The WRAMC will transition its patients, staff and capabilities to other Military Treatment Facilities in the region -- primarily WRNMMC and FBCH. The Department of Defense renovated and upgraded the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. and this hospital will be renamed the new WRNMMC on Aug. 29.
The DeWitt Army Community Hospital will also close in late August and its existing capabilities -- along with additional capabilities -- will transition to the new FBCH. Due to this transition, beneficiaries across the region will benefit by having access to new and enhanced capabilities.
To best accommodate the TRICARE Plus, Active Duty Family Members, Non-Active Duty and Non-Active Duty Family Members enrolled at either WRAMC or NNMC, JTF CapMed reassigned them -- where applicable -- to new MTFs and/or Primary Care Managers.
Leading up to the closure of WRAMC, approximately 39,000 beneficiaries received three notification letters -- in December, May and August of 2010 -- with information on this change. These letters requested the MTF location preference of all affected beneficiaries and informed them of their MTF and Primary Care Manager reassignment.
