Twenty-three Army Sustainment Command personnel rode the final leg of the 2011 Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, better known as RAGBRAI. According to organizers, about 20,000 riders participated in this year’s event.

“We are proud to represent the Army in this great community event,” said Maj. Gen. Yves J. Fontaine, ASC commanding general, as he dipped his bicycle tire in the Mississippi River at the finish line in Davenport, Iowa.

The ASC team met other riders in Coralville, Iowa, then braved the extreme heat to complete the final 65.6 miles of the event.

“It was a great team-building event,” said Col. Regina Draper, ASC deputy chief of staff for G2 (Intelligence).

Other riders from the ASC included: Command Sgt. Maj. Stephen D. Blake, Lt. Cols. Ronnie Davis, Yolanda Nieto, Peter Lane, and John Wyrwas; Maj. Steven Marchant; Capts. Ayanna Morales, Cassandra Dailey, Justin Bergen, Joshua Johnson, Sgt. Maj. Duane Strong, Master Sgts. Sharon Gilmore and Kecia Harris; Sgts. 1st Class Leyla Lesmes and Jay Denton; Sgts. Michelle Pedro and William Gerding; Clint Mecham, Leonard Jefferson, Mike Jones and Leslie Nepper.
