Staff Sgt. Rickie Spivey is an acquisition logistics and technology contracting noncommissioned officer with the 683rd Contingency Contracting Team based in Vicenza, Italy.

In just under a year, Spivey has supported more than 30 contracts as well as two major missions.

She was the contract specialist on the success of Atlas Drop 11 in Uganda and is currently working on another contract in support of a mission in the Gambia.

Spivey entered the Army in 1986, and after serving eight years on active duty as a medical supply specialist, decided to enter the U.S. Army Reserves. In 2004, Spivey re-dedicated her life to the Army and re-entered the Army as an automated logistical specialist.

In December 2008, Spivey started looking for a bigger challenge. After speaking to several NCOs about their jobs she decided to change her military occupational specialty (MOS) and transitioned to the Acquisitions Corps as a contract specialist (51C). Spivey sought something that would not only challenge her physically but also mentally.

"I want to obtain the most contracting knowledge I can and be confident in sharing that information and knowledge with fellow 51Cs. Not only do I continue to live the Soldiers and NCO Creed but I strive each day to be better than the day before and to always exceed my own expectations," stated Spivey.

Spivey has earned her associate’s degree and is currently working on her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Troy State University.

"Being a 51C has been the most challenging job that I have ever had both in the military and out."

Spivey is the proud mother of three beautiful children and a native of Perry, Ga.
