AUGUSTA, Ga. --- Several new Soldiers were enlisted at the Augusta Green Jackets Military Appreciation game, July 16 at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Thirty-six new Soldiers from across the Central Savannah River Area were enlisted by Maj. Gen. Alan Lynn, U.S. Army Signal Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon commanding general.

“It’s great,” Lynn said. “Young people are still deciding they want to serve their nation during a time of war. They all raised their right hand and willingly swore to defend their country and constitution. I’m honored to enlist them. How many times to do you get to touch the lives of young people? This was my opportunity.”

The whole night was dedicated to the CSRA showing their appreciation of the men and women who have served and are currently serving in all five branches of the military. Periodically, throughout the night, a roll call was done of each of the branches and their military anthem was played. Members were asked to stand during each song.

At the bottom of the sixth inning, the Fort Gordon Initial Entry Training Soldiers and Regimental noncommissioned officers " led by Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald Pflieger " stood and recited the United States Soldier’s Creed.

The Augusta Green Jackets did not disappoint those attending for the first time. The final score against the Savannah Sand Knats was 6 to 5 after 10 innings. The score was tied at 5 forcing them to play the 10th inning. The evening was brought to a close with a spectacular fireworks display.
