The Army Contracting Command-Redstone and the AMCOM Chief Information Office have announced a new acquisitions strategy for Information Technical Support Services.

ACC-RSA will use the Army's Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software Solutions Contract to acquire ITSS requirements and comply with new Army guidance on the procurement of enterprise level services. The plans were discussed during a town hall June 14.

The purpose of the town hall was to encourage an open dialogue, while keeping industry partners informed on the changes and providing a forum to answer questions, said AMCOM deputy commander Ronnie Chronister. He highlighted how the decision was made to use CHESS in order for Redstone to work best in the new business environment, saying it will provide flexibility, efficiency and effectiveness.

“We did an analysis to find out how we could be more efficient while still being effective,” Chronister said.

Under the new strategy, CHESS will only be used for two requirements which cover ITSS for AMCOM and the Program Executive Offices, and for the Logistics Support Activity. Two other requirements, information management support services and information assurance/cyber support services, will be set aside for small business and will not use the CHESS contract.
