U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards $18 million in contracts for Afghanistan National Army

KABUL " The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded two contracts totaling more than $18 million to design and construct new facilities in support of the Afghanistan National Security Forces this week.
The first facility is a $15.1 million Afghanistan National Civil Order Police Headquarters and special support battalion located in Gardez, Paktya Province, Afghanistan.
Gardez is located in the eastern portion of northern Afghanistan close to the Pakistan border.
The new ANP battalion will consists of an administration building, dining facility, open bay barracks, a vehicle maintenance facility, small arms storage, guard towers and guard shacks.
Proccea Construction Co., located out of Turkey, is the contractor on the project. Construction is expected to be complete within a year in a half.
Afghanistan Engineer District-North also awarded a $3.7 million contract for the design and build of an ANP border crossing point at Torkham Gate in Nangarhar Province.
Nangarhar Province is located in the northeastern portion of Afghanistan.
The project is defined as the construction of open bay barracks, a new dining facility, a generator, dog kennel, female barracks, a canopy wood stove kitchen, and new security measures to include guard towers, perimeter walls and a new entry control point.
Nangarhar Amiri Construction Co. & CMTL located in Nangarhar is the contractor for the crossing point. Construction is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2012.
