REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command has a number of felons who were arrested recently and spent as little as 15 minutes to as much as 1.5 hours behind bars.

Almost 50 people were “arrested” in fun May 18 to help raise more than $900 for the command’s organizational day planned for later this year.

The offenses varied greatly, but ranged from “harassment of prisoners” to “having too large of an office” to “aiding and abetting a left-handed terrorist,” but one offender managed to evade authorities.

“Sean Stevens evaded arrest all day so there is currently a warrant outstanding for him,” said Summer McDermott, the Jail Day bailiff. “He will serve his time next year, I am sure!”

Stevens plead his case via e-mail.

“If the court would be so pleased for an update. Sean Stevens returned to serve his time, but the ‘jail’ hit the road and was nowhere to be found,” he wrote. “Last I heard he was taking refuge in a semi-burned, bullet riddled, and now vacant building somewhere in Pakistan.

One way personnel avoided arrest was by purchasing a $20 immunity bond, which provided protection all day. According to McDermott, nearly 30 immunity bonds were sold. A warrant was issued for either 15 minutes for $5, or for 30 minutes for $10.
