Col. Wheelock gets hitched up for the mission.

The astronauts ride in an M113 armored emergency vehicle at the Kennedy Space Center. Several M113s are parked near the launch pad during countdowns and astronauts can use them to quickly get away from the area in case something goes wrong.
The mission includes delivering equipment to the International Space Station, shown here.
