Celebrating Ash Wednesday Mass
Chap. (Capt.) Fred Wendell, U.S. Army Garrison Catholic chaplain, prepares to places ashes on the heads of parishioners Wednesday at the Ash Wednesday Mass at Cantonment Chapel on Fort McPherson. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a Christian tradition. The ashes, which are placed on the forehead in the sign of a cross, are a mark of repentance.
