HEIDELBERG, Germany - The students of Heidelberg High School are busy preparing for their upcoming production of the classic musical "Guys and Dolls."

The show, based on a story and characters by Damon Runyon, takes place in 1950s New York City and involves a bunch of "mugs" trying to get a craps game going, while their girlfriends and members of the "Save-A-Soul" mission try to discourage them.

Of course, love ensues as Sarah Brown (played by Jennifer Jost), "a mission doll," falls for the "big guy" Sky Masterson (Aaron Steffen) while Nathan Detroit's (Zachery Richards) long engagement to Miss Adelaide (Erin Seage) is tested by his insistence on shooting craps.

Presented by the school's theater and music departments, "Guys and Dolls" is the latest in a string of annual hit productions, following last year's production of "Footloose" and the sell-out performance of "Grease" the year before.

This year's show is a colorful, vivacious, endearing production of a musical that has entertained generations and is appropriate for all ages.

The show's music is by Frank Loesser and is based on the book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.

The show is presented in association with Music Theatre International.

The show runs 7:30 p.m. March 3-5 and March 6 at 3 p.m. in the Heidelberg High School auditorium.
