WIESBADEN, Germany (Feb. 15, 2010) -- During a training stand-down day, Soldiers and civilians with 5th Signal Command raised over $1,700 by casting pies of whipped cream and toppings into their leaders' faces. The proceeds of the pie-in-the-face will support the upcoming European Cyber Ball.

Leadership personnel throughout 5th Signal Command donated their faces to the cause of supporting the ball. They were allowed to try to auction back their own pie, and were then given an opportunity to give the pie to any who bid against them if they won.

"We owe everyone who came out to support this event a huge thanks for their participation and donations," said 1st Sgt. Jose Jaquez, HHC, 5th Signal Command.

The highest bid for a single pie was $570. This pie was presented to Sgt. Maj. Michael Williams, 5th Signal Command.
