HEIDELBERG, Germany -- The U.S. Army Europe and Installation Management Command Europe Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas awards ceremony Feb. 14 at Patrick Henry Village recognized the hundreds of Soldiers and civilians whose leadership in the fall campaign raised $2.3 million.

Speaking on behalf of USAREUR Commander Gen. Carter Ham, Maj. Gen. Terry A. Wolff, USAREUR deputy commanding general, thanked the U.S. Army Europe team for the incredible efforts to make this year's campaign a success.

Approximately 215 bronze, silver, gold, platinum and special merit awards were presented to IMCOM-E and USAREUR units by Wolff and Diane M. Devens, director of IMCOM Europe.

The 3rd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, based in Baumholder and the U.S. Army Garrison Hohenfels each earned the CFC special merit award. The award is given to a unit from each component for its remarkable generosity, exceptional participation, and extraordinary volunteer spirit.

"The unit representatives drove the campaign by engaging the Soldiers weekly or even daily to get the point across," said Capt. Robert Jones, 3-4 Infantry, rear detachment commander. "We wanted to convey the message that your contributions make a difference.

"The team effort really got the message across to all the Soldiers."

Capt. Cherith Boycan from the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Ansbach and Isha Greene from U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach received Outstanding Community Area Project Officer awards.

"The Outstanding CAPO award goes to those project officers who go above and beyond in trying to get the word out about the campaign," said Victoria Adams, executive director of CFC-Overseas. "Our awardees made great use of the online publicity kits, and you could see that from the results in contributions from their areas."

Adams said the Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas brought in more than $14 million this year.

"I look forward to next year and hope we do even better."

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.

The Combined Federal Campaign helps to raise millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season from Sept. 1 to Dec. 15 support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
