The Chief of Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department and members of his staff received briefings and tours highlighting the mission and capabilities of the Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington at Fort McNair Feb. 9, 2011.

Police Chief Stephen Holl and staff were hosted by Maj. Gen Karl R. Horst, JFHQ NCR/MDW commanding general.

JFHQ NCR is responsible for land-based homeland defense, defense support of civil authorities and incident management in the District of Columbia and neighboring counties and cities of Maryland and Virginia, including Loudon, Fairfax and Prince William Counties in Virginia.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency with the same responsibility as a county or municipal police agency to enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Airports Authority operates a two-airport system (Dulles and Reagan National airports) that provides domestic and international air service for the mid-Atlantic region.
