Commander, US Army Reserve visits 651st RSG in Kuwait

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait - - Lieutenant General Jack Stultz, Army Reserve Commanding General, reenlisted Staff Sergeant Eric Franklin and Staff Sergeant Matthew Vaughn of the 651st Regional Support Group, along with seven other Soldiers, into the Army Reserve on Dec. 28.
The reenlistment ceremony was part of a larger holiday visit and town hall meeting held at the Camp Arifjan Zone 1 Chapel, hosted by Lt. Gen. Stultz and Command Sergeant Major of the Army Reserve Michael Schultz.
Lt. Gen. Stultz and Command Sgt. Maj. Schultz took this opportunity to thank and praise Army Reserve Soldiers for their service and professionalism. He described how foreign military leaders regularly inquire as to how they can build an "effective reserve force". Lt. Gen. Stultz described the men and women of the Army Reserve as, "the envy of the world".
Lt. Gen. Stultz discussed a variety of issues and topics that effect Reservists today. Topics discussed included, retention, mobilizations and civilian employment.
"60% of the (Army's) medical structure is in the Army Reserve," said Stultz. Lt. Gen. Stultz talked about how the Army Reserve uses statistics like these to help build employment partnerships with civilian employers, such as Nova Healthcare.
Lt. Gen. Stultz stated that there are approximately 1500 companies around the world that partner with the Army Reserve providing employers with a direct link to Army Reserve service members and their families.
Following their remarks, Lt. Gen. Stultz and Command Sgt. Maj. Schultz took time to answer questions from the audience. A majority of the questions revolved around the future force structure of the Army Reserve, promotions and the Army's budget.
"It was an honor to meet and be reenlisted into the Army Reserve by General Stultz. It was great to hear him discuss some of the issues that Reserve Soldiers deal with today," said Staff Sgt. Eric Franklin, a human resource specialist with the 651st Regional Support Group, and Denver, CO native.
