What is it'

The 8th TSC is a complex organization of approximately 5,000 Soldiers with sustainment responsibilities spanning the Pacific Command area of responsibility (PACOM AOR). Major subordinate commands on Oahu are: the 8th Military Police Brigade, 130th Engineer Brigade and 45th Sustainment Brigade located on Schofield Barracks. Additionally, the 10th Support Group located in Okinawa, Japan, executes logistics operations under the direction of the 8th TSC. 8th TSC units and Soldiers support the warfight, sustain the Army in the Pacific and are a benefit to their communities. The unit website is 8th Theater Sustainment Command

What has the Army done'

The Army established the 8th Theater Sustainment Command as the Senior Army Logistics Command in the PACOM AOR, command and control all assigned, attached and operational control (OPCON) units; train, equip and tailor forces, as required; plan and generate expeditionary combat support/combat service support (CS/CSS) capability; provide timely and robust support of joint and combined forces across the full-spectrum of military operations in order to maintain peace and stability, deter aggression, and fight and win in the Pacific AOR.

What efforts does the Army plan to continue in the future'

The 8th Theater Sustainment Command functions as a fully-capable and relevant theater enabling command integrating multi-functional skill sets across the Pacific Theater while continuing to support overseas contingency operations with trained and ready forces. As a credible enabler with an expanding mission set in a complex environment, we must continue training technically and tactically adaptive leaders to successfully execute the mission safely and autonomously.

Why is this important to the Army'

The PACOM AOR covers more than half the world's surface including areas of historic and current interest to the Army, and indeed to the entire world. The 8th TSC is more than a Sustainment Command. In addition to our logisticians, our engineers and military police Soldiers are trained and ready, and competent in their professions. We have deployed 16 company-sized to brigade-sized units to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Our Forward Command Post has deployed to Japan in support of multiple exercises, demonstrating our theater-wide reach.
