Military and civilian personnel united to brainstorm solutions toward helping military children and strengthening the Army's partnership with the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) during the World Congress Center for Atlanta Public Engagement Dinner and Orientation in Atlanta Oct. 28 and 29.

The seminar focused on Atlanta's military children and combined information sharing and strategic planning techniques to create Atlanta-specific education action plans.

The MCEC is a world wide organization that identifies the challenges facing the mobile lifestyle military children face, works to increase awareness of these challenges in military and educational communities, and initiates and implements programs to meet those challenges.

Together with the Army, MCEC has conducted a comprehensive study of the affects of transition on military children throughout their high school years.

The goal is to help military families meet the needs of their children, who on average move six to nine times between kindergarten and 12th grade, according to MCEC officials.
