Maj. Gen. Yves J. Fontaine, commanding general of the Army Sustainment Command, presented the Linda J. Villar 2009 Logistics Assistance Representative of the Year Award to Larry Brown on Nov. 15.

ASC LAR Brown competed against representatives from other life cycle management commands within the Army Material Command. He is currently assigned as a supply LAR for the 1st Battalion, 406th Army Field Support Brigade, Fort Stewart, Ga. He was judged by his efforts to provide logistical technical support, improved Army operations support, field exercise support and overall self-improvement.

Brown enlisted in the Army from his hometown in Jacksonville, Fla. in January 1974. Larry served as a Soldier for 21 years in a logistics career. Larry served four tours in Germany, one in Panama and in various locations throughout the Continental United States. Larry retired from active duty in November 1995.

Brown joined the ASC team in July 2004 as a supply management specialist. He has deployed twice.

The Linda J. Villar award was named to honor the LAR who sacrificed her life on June 3, 2005 when an insurgent mortar round struck Camp Liberty near Baghdad International Airport, Iraq.
