FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- The U.S. Army Security Assistance Training Management

Organization held a re-flagging ceremony Oct. 8 which begins their transition from the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command to the U.S. Army Materiel Command.

"USASATMO is honored to wear the AMC red, white and blue patch and will always strive to meet the high standards set by our new command," said Col. Peter W. Aubrey, USASATMO commander.

The transfer will consolidate all foreign training and advisory functions associated with delivery of Army defense articles and services under the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command, with USASATMO as a subordinate command.

"We are very excited to have USASATMO join AMC and USASAC. We have worked closely together for many years and we look forward to them being part of our team, providing quality security assistance to the Army's many international partners," said Brig. Gen. Christopher Tucker, USASAC commanding general.

USASATMO began as a part of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center's United States Army Institute for Military Assistance in 1974. Eventually growing into a Field Operating Agency, USASATMO served as the TRADOC executive agent for matters relating to overseas security assistance training management and support.

The brigade-equivalent command is headquartered at Fort Bragg, N.C. USASATMO employs more than 260 Soldiers, Department of Army civilians and contractors who are deployed to more than 20 countries throughout the year to meet the requirements of the foreign nations requesting training assistance.

USASAC implements approved U.S. Army security assistance programs, including Foreign Military Sales of defense articles and services to eligible foreign governments. The command manages approximately 4,400 FMS cases valued at more than $103 billion. USASAC also manages the Army's co-production program.
