It was time for a fiesta as U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command's operational element conducted their annual Hispanic Heritage Observance.

This year's theme, "Heritage, Diversity, Integrity and Honor: The Renewed Hope of America" set the tone for the celebration conducted Sept. 29 at Peterson Air Force Base's Building Three.

Special silent guests were present in the form of portraits of Hispanic Americans who have gone on to have successful careers.

The framed images were placed throughout the audience, and attendees sitting next to them brought each one up and read the biographies on the back of the photographs.

The guest speaker for the event was Sandy Gutierrez, President/CEO, Latino Chamber of Commerce of Pueblo, Inc.

After the formal portion of the ceremony ended, attendees were treated to an ethnic tasting, games of musical chairs and a piAfA+-ata bashing.
