Philip Kaberline, the commander of Delta Detachment, 106th Finance Management Company, and Sgt. 1st Class Charles Moten, the noncommissioned officer in charge of the detachment, case the unit's guidon in preparation for the unit's deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn. The unit will be deployed for one year.

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany -- The Soldiers of Delta Detachment, 106th Finance Management Company held a unit guidon casing ceremony at Kleber Kaserne's gym here Sept. 23 in preparation for their upcoming deployment to Kuwait to provide financial support for Soldiers assigned to Operation New Dawn.

Operation Iraqi Freedom became Operation New Dawn earlier this year to reflect the reduced role U.S. troops will play in securing the country as troop levels fall and the U.S. military's combat role in Iraq draws to a close.

"The Soldiers who stand before us are an incredible asset to the Army. Few in numbers, they accomplish great things on and off the battlefield. In and around Kaiserslautern, their efforts keep thousands of Soldiers receiving the proper pay and entitlements with which they may provide for their families at home and while deployed," said Maj. Michael Mourisen, the commander of the 106th FM Co.

Delta Det., 106th FM Co. falls under the 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command and is based out of Kaiserslautern, Germany. For the majority of the Soldiers in Delta Det., this will be their first deployment.

"I hope that they all grow, that they learn. Being that 70 percent of our Soldiers are new, this actually gives them the opportunity to learn their jobs and become proficient in their craft," said Sgt. 1st Class Charles Moten, the noncommissioned officer in the charge of Delta Det., 106th FM Co.

The detachment is scheduled to be deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation New Dawn for one year.
