FORT HOOD, Texas - Soldiers of the Special Troops Battalion, 15th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) gathered at Guidon Field Aug. 27 to transfer responsibility of the battalion from Command Sgt. Maj. Clarence Miller Jr. to Command Sgt. Maj. Dolishia King.

Miller served as the battalion's senior noncommissioned officer for 32 months, and led the battalion through its most recent deployment to Iraq.

"When I first came into the Army 20 years ago, it did not take me long to figure out I would not be successful without a good senior noncommissioned officer to take care of me," Lt. Col. Paula Lodi, the battalion's commander, said.

She explained that after meeting Miller, she knew everything was going to be ok.

"I could not have asked for a more decent human being to serve with," Lodi said.

For Miller, the time spent in command has been emotional.

"Wow, what a ride," Miller said. "It truly has been an honor and a pleasure."

During his remarks, Miller spoke about the commitment displayed by the Soldiers and leaders of the Wrangler battalion.

"You guys are truly professional," Miller said to his Soldiers.

Miller plans to retire after 26 years in the Army.

"It's going to be some big shoes to fill," King said. "I'm ready to become a part of your family."

"CSM King is absolutely the right senior noncommissioned officer with the right vision to guide this Battalion," Lodi said.

King, who is already assigned to Fort Bliss, Texas, will lead the battalion through its relocation to Fort Bliss later this year.
