FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Junior NCOs, and any future NCOs from the National Capital Region, are encouraged to register for Fort Belvoir's NCO Mentorship Program, which is scheduled at Barden Education Center from September 20-24.

1st Sgt. Bradley Scott of Belvoir's Headquarters Battalion is helping with the program's coordination and said it's a fast-paced, five-day program that prepares Soldiers for leadership positions and all levels of NCOES.

Scott said training will be broken down into six different classes a day. Blocks of instruction include developmental counseling, ethics, physical fitness, suicide prevention, map reading and land navigation.

This is the first time Belvoir is hosting a program like this and Scott is excited to see how things work out.

"We've had a good response so far from Soldiers interested in either being a student or an instructor through the program. Though, we could always use more," Scott said. "It's open to anyone in the Military District of Washington. I think it's a great Warrior Leadership Course and something Soldiers can find a lot of value in."
