200,000 residents of Al-Rumaitha to benefit from newly opened fish market

The Muthanna Provincial Reconstruction Team conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently completed renovation and construction of a retail and wholesale fish market located in the District of Al Rumaitha August 28.
The $205,000 fish market renovation and construction project was funded by forces in United States Division-South, and was managed and developed with support from elements of 3rd Advise and Assist Brigade, 4th Infantry Division.
The new fish market will provide approximately 100 permanent jobs for community members while providing live-fish tanks and shop space for 30 vendors.
The fish market is intended to increase the quality of available food, allow for better health standards, and improve the local economy for over 200,000 people. The market will also allow for safer distribution and handling of food.
