ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. - The Army Communications-Electronics Command launched its new homepage found at http://cecom.army.mil last week; and CECOM's Army Knowledge Online portal page was recently recognized as a "Best of AKO 2010 Silver Award Winner" in the annual AKO contest.

Together, these CECOM web products provide a full-spectrum information source for CECOM -related topics.

This is the second year of the AKO "Best of" contest, which recognizes the innovation and creativity illustrated by AKO portal page designs. In addition to page design, awards are also given for business process management applications; best use of online surveys and web viewer channels; and best myProfile sites.

CECOM renovated its AKO page this past year with three goals in mind: to provide the workforce with easy access to critical information; to communicate the CECOM mission and support provided to the warfighter to internal audiences; and to illustrate the capabilities of AKO to encourage maximum use of this Army enterprise resource by the CECOM community.

Just as CECOM is the one-stop-shop source for support of the communications-electronics systems and equipment Soldiers carry; the CECOM public homepage serves as the primary source to learn about the 'who' and 'what' of CECOM for users in the public arena.

"Our aim is for the user to leave the site with a better idea of CECOM's role in our nation's defense and the value we add in serving the warfighter," said Henry Kearney, CECOM chief of public affairs.

The CECOM homepage will serve as the public interface for the command to share its mission and functions with the community. On the site, you can find information about the command's mission; members of the C4ISR Materiel Enterprise; CECOM news, business and career opportunities; leadership biographies; multimedia products; visitor information; and CECOM subordinate organization fact sheets, among a host of other information.

The site also provides links to the homepages of each of the five CECOM Centers.

-Central Technical Support Facility

-Logistics and Readiness Center

-Software Engineering Center

-Tobyhanna Army Depot

-U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command
