Tea and teen topics
FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska - Jalaal Payton (left) and visiting friend Tamera Owens speak with Mrs. Sarah Lynch, wife of Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch, Defender 6, commanding general, Installation Management Command, during a tea sponsored by the Child, Youth and School Services Center, Aug. 5. Jalaal is the daughter of Leticia and Sgt. First Class Patrick Johnson, Medical Department Activity-Alaska and one of five youth who helped Megan Brown, Youth Services Facility director, with the setup and breakdown of the event. More than 20 spouses of Fort Wainwright's senior leadership attended the tea. Brown remarked that Mrs. Lynch sat with everyone during the tea, asking questions of the youth and spouses alike on their experiences moving to Alaska; what services were offered by the post and any ideas to fix any issues or pressures they may have experienced from living in Alaska. "The youth definitely kept her attention with how it is to be a youth here with the elements, deployments, and how it is to be a military kid in general." Brown said, "Everyone had a lovely time and the kids really enjoyed the undivided attention." (Photo by Mitzie Jewitt/Fort Wainwright DFMWR)
