Chamber, community leaders bid Keller farewell

ANNISTON ARMY DEPOT, Ala. - The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception for Depot Commander Col. S. B. Keller on Aug. 16 in the Chamber's atrium where dozens of community leaders bid the colonel a fond farewell during her last week as Anniston Army Depot's commander. She relinquishes command to Col. Timothy Sullivan on Aug. 20 during a change of command ceremony at the depot.

On hand to present mementos to Keller were State Representative Randy Wood, Calhoun County Commissioner Eli Henderson, Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson, Anniston Mayor Gene Robinson and United Way Executive Director Curtis Simpson.

These civic leaders, along with Chamber President Sherri Sumners and Nathan Hill, military liaison for the Economic Development Council, expressed to Keller their appreciation for her support to the community through her leadership on and off the installation during her three-year assignment at ANAD.

Keller actively supported the community and its people through events and programs like the Combined Federal Campaign, the Depot Mentoring Program, Christmas Cheer, Computer Donations and Camp Connection. During her tenure, the depot held its first Veteran's Supermarket of Benefits Fair.

She leaves Anniston for her native Virginia where she will serve as chief of staff for the Responsible Reset Task Force at Fort Belvoir.
