ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. - Federal employees in far eastern Iowa and western Illinois who participate in the Illowa Bi-State Combined Federal Campaign are being recognized as the recipient of the Healthy Investment Award by Community Health Charities Iowa.
The Healthy Investment Award is given to employers whose employees donated generously through their annual workplace giving campaign. The Healthy Investment Award was presented to Joel Himsl, Rock Island Arsenal Garrison Manager, on behalf of all the federal employees who participated in the Illowa CFC.
"Community Health Charities Iowa would like to thank all of the federal employees for their generous contributions. Community Health Charities Iowa and its partner agencies have made a significant impact in helping to provide Iowans with life-saving medical research, patient services, medical and rehabilitation services, as well as increasing the public's awareness of health and wellness issues," said Jim Swanstrom, Community Health Charities Iowa President and CEO.
According to Swanstrom, "The contributions donated by these employees will directly impact local health agencies throughout the Quad Cities and eastern Iowa."
The Illowa CFC was recognized for their generous contributions totaling more than $26,000 for the Fall 2009 campaign. This was the largest amount collected for all of the participating CFCs.
Rock Island Arsenal Garrison Manager, Joel Himsl, stressed the importance of giving.
"As federal employees we are blessed with the great country we serve and the freedoms we enjoy. It is refreshing to give back to our communities and local charities to help others in need-that is the power of CFC. On behalf of our federal employees, I am very proud to accept this award, Thank you!" Himsl added, "We are gearing up to conduct our 2010 CFC campaign this fall. We hope again to inspire our federal employees to give a little and gain so much."
The Combined Federal Campaign is the annual fund-raising drive conducted by federal, postal and military employees in their workplaces each fall. Each year these employees raise millions of dollars through the CFC that benefit thousands of non-profit charities. It is the only authorized fund raising campaign for charities permitted in federal and postal workplaces. The Illowa Bi-State CFC covers all federal, postal and military employees in the 37-county area.
