FORT BELVOIR, Va. - Fort Belvoir's Warrior in Transition Unit ombudsman, Vincent Caprio, takes great pride in his ability to cut through red tape and solve problems for Soldiers. Whether it takes months or days to track down gear left behind at units or locate undelivered awards, Caprio is on the case.

A former Soldier, Caprio brings a unique perspective and advantage to working with all branches of returning Soldiers assigned to the WTU, looking out for their rights and welfare.

He is tenacious in his pursuit to help the Soldiers in whatever needs they may have. "To have a Soldier seek my assistance ... and the outcome be positive, that is what I am most proud of," Caprio said.

He has assisted Soldiers with schooling, medical issues, funding and unraveling paperwork, as needed. He uses resources and the innovative techniques and expertise that come from more than two years in his position - one that gives him distinct advantage as an advocate for the Soldiers by allowing him to reach outside sources that might not be readily available to the servicemembers.

Recently, he turned down a position near his home, and a chance to end his 90-mile commute, just to continue the work he finds rewarding.

Caprio states that his goal for his career is quite simple as he remains dedicated to the Army around him.

"I am fulfilling that every day just by interacting with the men and women of the United States Army!"
