Sgt. 1st Class Andres J. Garcia is the Senior Procurement Contracting Specialist for the 622nd Contingency Contracting Team in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Prior to his reclassification as a contracting NCO, Garcia, a native of Union City, NJ. distinctively served as a petroleum supply specialist.

"I have served in many positions throughout my military career, from a Bradley crewmember to an advanced individual training instructor, leading, teaching, and mentoring soldiers," Garcia said. "I wanted to be able to contribute even more than what I have so far, and when I heard about what a 51C does and the impact it has, I decided to reclassify."

As a member of the 622nd Contingency ContractA,A!ing Team, the 14-year Army veteran perA,A!forms his duties as a contracting NCO across the European and African continents. In his first 18 months as a NCO, Garcia administered and awarded contract actions in various areas of operations to include; Romania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovinian, and Israel valued at more than $5 million.

Garcia recently provided direct support to the 2nd Stryker Calvary Regiment out of Vilseck, Germany in their training rotation at Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels Training Area, Germany. Garcia trained over 70 contracting officer representatives and field ordering officers as well as developing real world contract scenarios for their deployment to Afghanistan.

In addition, Garcia serves as the brigade field ordering officer manager which supports Special Operations Command Europe, European Command, and Africa Command missions throughout the world.

Garcia, who is currently pursuing his MBA, continually strives for success and accomplishes the mission, no matter the size or complexity.
