Staff Sgt. (P) Nickea Harris, 413th Contracting Support Brigade, Fort Shafter, Hawaii, entered the Army in 2002 and attended basic training at Fort Leonardwood, Mo., and advance individual raining at Fort Lee, Va. Prior to her reclassification to a contingency contracting officer, Harris, a native of New Orleans, La., distinctively served as a food service specialist.

Harris' previous assignment was with Headquarters, Headquarters Command, Area Support Group Kuwait where she served as the assistant dining facilities manager and a contracting officer's representative.

"I like a challenge. When I performed COR duties, it inspired me to seek more information about the 51C career field. After talking with other 51C's stationed in Kuwait, I was convinced that this was a career field worth pursuing," said Harris, who is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management with the University of Maryland University College.

As a member of the 603rd Senior Contingency Contracting Team in the Hawaii Regional Contracting Office, Harris performs duties as a contract specialist, training and preparing to

conduct contingency contracting officer missions across the pacific. In her first six months as a contract specialist, Harris administered and awarded 25 contract actions valued at more than $7 million.

She recently provided direct support to the 25th Infantry Division 2nd Stryker Brigade's National Training Center rotation by administering a time sensitive $1.6 million contract. In addition, Harris serves as the equal opportunity leader for the brigade. Harris consistently exceeds every expectation and produces superior results.
