USARPAC commander continues Pacific Rim tour

FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii--U.S. Army, Pacific Commander, Lt. Gen. Benjamin R. Mixon, embarked on a mid-June tour of Pacific Rim countries to meet with counterparts in Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Zealand and Australia in an effort to promote the USARPAC Theater Security Cooperation Program.

After attending the closing ceremony of exercise Garuda Shield in Indonesia, June 22, Mixon arrived in the Philippines to meet with dignitaries there before heading to New Zealand and Australia where he would spend the Fourth of July, before returning to Hawaii, time zones away.

In a June 29 interview with Honolulu talk show host, Mike Buck, Mixon expressed his hope to return to Hawaii in time to celebrate the Fourth with Soldiers' families at Schofield Barracks.
