FORT RUCKER, Ala. -- In addition to the sweet treats provided in the neighborhood management offices, on-post residents have one more treat to add to their list about living on Fort Rucker - the Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center and pool.

Picerne Military Housing staff opens the doors of its second Neighborhood Center July 5. The center is within walking distance or a short ride for Munson Heights and Bowden Terrace residents.

"My kids stop by the Neighborhood Office after school to get a hot fresh cookie. Don't tell anyone, but some days I do, too. It really makes their day," said Maj. Dean Forrest, a Munson Heights resident. "I also enjoy the safety of living on post. I don't have to worry about my kids walking to and from school or to their friend's house."

Douglas Jones, Picerne property management executive vice president, described the Neighborhood Centers as "a getaway, an extension of the walls of the homes to a bright, relaxing place to interact with people with similar lives."

The Allen Heights Neighborhood Center has provided this getaway since July 2009. A year later, the Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center opens to provide an additional recreation spot for residents and registered guests, he said.

"We are also looking forward to the Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center opening soon. It will give the kids another place to play," Forrest said.

The Bowden Terrace Neighborhood Center offers a place for Families to become a community, Picerne officials said, noting they host its official grand opening July 29 at 10 a.m. Residents are invited to eat food and participate in games.

"This is a time for residents to truly connect with their neighborhood management team, their neighbors and to have fun," said Robert Frazier, Picerne community management director.

Munson Heights residents are welcome to visit either Neighborhood Center while the Munson Heights Neighborhood Center is under construction. It is scheduled to open in spring of 2012.

For more information, residents may contact their Neighborhood Offices at 503-3640 for Bowden Terrace, 503-3641 for Munson Heights or 503-3642 for Allen Heights and Silver Wings.
