Hundreds of community members gathered at the Charlottesville pavilion downtown in celebration of the Army's 235th birthday June 14.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- Brig. Gen. John W. Miller II, commander/commandant, U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School; and Future Soldier Hannah Wright, 18, slice into the Army's 235th birthday cake during a community celebration at the Charlottesville pavilion June 14. Wright, who only weeks ago was finishing up her senior year at Open Door Christian School, will be leaving at the end of the month for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Joining the Army was a life-long dream, said Wright, who's uncle served in the Army. She's currently working with her recruiter to prepare for her military training. Wright along with more than 15 Future Soldiers from the Lynchburg Recruiting Company participated in a swear-in ceremony during the Army's birthday celebration.
