As he walked the maintenance facilities of Red River Army Depot, Lt. Gen. James H. Pillsbury, Army Materiel Command deputy commander, stopped occasionally to shake hands with employees and tell them to keep up the great work for the Soldier.

"What you do here is vital...thank you for you do," said Pillsbury as he shook the hand of one High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled vehicle (HMMWV) production mechanics.

Pillsbury was accompanied by Maj. Mike Hammond, aide to Pillsbury and Cherish Washington from the AMC Public Affairs Office.

"I admire the safety record here...fabulous," commented Pillsbury as he walked thru the HMMWV production line.

During his tour Pillsbury visited several production areas including HMMWV, Family of Medium Tactical Trucks (FMTV), Heavy Expanded Medium Tactical Truck (HEMTT) and the MRAP Egress Trainer (MET). He also visited the new Maneuver System Sustainment Center which is currently under construction.

Team members of the 1113/1114 Up-armored HMMWV/HEAT program were also recognized by Pillsbury as the recipients of the 2009 Bronze Shingo Medallion. The 2009 Shingo medallion marks the eighth medallion for RRAD.

"Nobody does it better than you all," he said. "Red River has a great commander, great people and a great facility."

Pillsbury received briefings from subject matter experts during the tour and concluded the tour with a discussion concerning the Logistics Moderinzation Program (LMP).

"There are a lot of things I worry about. Fortunately, Red River is not one of them," said Pillsbury.
