Cadet Tyler Gordy, Brigade First Captain, adds his name to the board that lists the cadets who previously held the position. Gordy, who served as a sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) before entering West Point through the Soldier Admission Program, rose to the top leadership position in the Corps of Cadets and will be forever linked with the likes of Gen. Douglas MacArthur and Heisman Trophy winner Pete Dawkins. The Newcastle, Calif., native graduates on May 22 with the rest of his class and will be commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. The former sniper, who received the Purple Heart and earned the Army Commendation Medal with "V" device while deployed to Iraq in 2003, will return to the infantry and be stationed at Ft.
