Ft. Eustis, Va. - A 44 year tradition continued May 5 as the Aviation & Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center recognized five employees in areas of excellence and technological achievement during a local area Commander's Awards Ceremony here.
AMRDEC's Aviation Applied Technology Directorate has presented the annual award since 1966 on a peer-based nomination and selection process. AATD Commander Col. Thomas H. Bryant presented Certificates of Appreciation to the field of 26 nominees considered for the award.
This year's winners were Harold B. Cuba, Administrative Support; Lavonne F. Benton, Professional and Administrative Functions; John March, Technical Support; Thomas H. Watson, Program Management; and the Award for Technological Achievement went to Matthew P. Shivers.
Research, Development and Engineering Command Deputy Commanding General Brig. Gen. Harold J. Greene was on hand to present each winner with a plaque and a monetary bonus, and said AATD has a long history of excellence. U.S. Army aviation has contributed from the efforts of AATD and its employees, he added.
