Jim Thorpe Day
US ARMY WAR COLLEGE, Pennsylvania -- The Presidential Salute Battery of Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) fire the first of a thirteen gun salute at Jim Thorpe day at the Army War College in Carlisle, PA on April 23. Jim Thorpe was a Native American athlete who won two Olympic gold medals in 1912. He also played football, baseball, and basket ball at the collegiate and professional levels.
