Family Entertainment Center open for fun

During the grand opening ceremony of the Family Entertainment Center Friday, the community was introduced to a new on-post entertainment option. Located on Eckel Avenue near Smith Fitness Center, the facility is a direct response to community requests, said Fort Benning Garrison Commander COL Thomas Macdonald.

"We study what people are looking for in terms of recreation, and when we can, we provide that," he said. "These studies do result in action, and this is another example of that."

The updated facility, which before featured only bowling, has a snack bar, 12 bowling lanes and a 3,000-square-foot playground.

"We urge anyone who was unable to take part in the grand opening to visit us soon and experience what your comments and feedback have brought to Fort Benning," said Jaime Hodges, Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation marketing.

Hours of operation are from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
