Army technology blog gains features
Army Technology Live has daily updates on job opportunities, science and technology news and links to social media sites.

ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. -- Finding information on the latest and greatest technology researchers are developing for American Soldiers is part of the daily news at the official Army Technology Live blog.

Launched in Fall 2009, the social media initiative is gaining new features and readership. The Web address is http://armytechnology.armylive.dodlive.mil.

"We've added a free companion iPhone app to make the blog totally mobile," said Robert DiMichele, Research, Development and Engineering Command spokesperson. "We are also making the blog a starting point for our employment information."

The iPhone application is a mash-up of syndicated news feeds from various sources. Officials said future versions will include more news sources. The app downloads current news features after it launches. Included are entries to the Army Technology Live blog, the official RDECOM homepage, job listings, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and more.

Army Technology Live now publishes a sampling of job opportunities available across the Army's research and development community for engineers, scientists and mathematicians. There is also a link to USAJobs.gov for a complete listing of job postings across RDECOM.

"We really hope to advance the conversation about Army technologies and inform the public about Army initiatives," DiMichele said. "The blog gives us the opportunity to showcase the work the Army technology team does to make our warfighters strong and America safe."

DiMichele said the blog delivers a level of transparency while communicating with a broad audience of readers both inside and outside the Army.

"We recruit, develop, and retain a diverse, resilient and world-class work force," he said. "It's important to communicate with our employees, but even more important to tell America about the amazing work they accomplish in our laboratories and research centers."
