Maj. Kristian Howard, Australian Exchange Officer (left) briefs Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Foley, Fort Gordon commanding general and chief of Signal, during a network tunneling package assessment March 3. The test was performed cooperatively between the Fort Gordon Battle Lab, the 513th Military Intelligence Brigade and the 442nd Signal Battalion for the purpose of determining the operational suitability of "tunneling" large amounts of data over the WIN-T system. "We achieved our objectives," said Howard. "It was an important step forward in showing how Signal and MI forces can work together." Howard said a successful test could lead the way towards reducing the number of tactical satellite terminals required to support deployed forces and could produce a significant savings in manpower and logistics for the Army.
