By Media Resources DivisionMarch 1, 2010

Fort Belvoir, Va., February 24, 2010 - Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier will conduct the second in its series of quarterly media roundtables on March 2, 2010.

The roundtable series, called "What's New in PEO Soldier," provides an opportunity for members of the media to have a face-to-face discussion with key officials within PEO Soldier, the Army acquisition agency responsible for developing, procuring, and fielding virtually everything a Soldier wears or carries.

The roundtable will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 11:30 a.m. at the Pentagon in Room 1E462, the Army Public Affairs Conference Room.

The theme will be the Soldier-as-a-System (SaaS) concept. The roundtable will include equipment presentations on M4 carbine improvements, M24 sniper rifle upgrades, the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle (Digital), the Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble (FREE), the fire-resistant Ghillie suit for snipers, and an update on the deployment of the Land Warrior system with the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division. Members of the media will have an opportunity to photograph the equipment at the conclusion of the roundtable.

Members of the media will also be able to speak with the PEO Soldier and the Project Managers for PM Soldier Protection and Individual Equipment, PM Soldier Warrior, PM Soldier Weapons, and PM Soldier Sensors and Lasers about other issues related to their offices.

PEO Soldier strives to provide gear that improves Soldiers' mobility, reduces the load they carry, and increases their lethality and survivability in any operational environment. Together PEO Soldier's four Project Management Offices manage more than 460 different pieces of Soldier equipment.
