After graduating second in her class with a 94 percent average from the Army Acquisition Basic Course, Brookes immediately made an impact at the Anniston Army Depot's Directorate of Contracting by awarding and administering over $1.6 million dollars in contracts. Of particular note are three critical contract actions she processed that directly impacted the production of combat vehicles on the depot's production line. Her vast knowledge and strong work ethic contributed to the completion of three mission essential contracts which kept the production line operational.

An outstanding coach, teacher, and mentor, Brookes has helped mentor a civilian intern and an NCO in conducting simplified acquisition procedures. Although fully engaged with processing contract actions, teaching other contract specialists, and managing her CCT's training in contingency contracting tasks and Soldier's Manual of Common Tasks, Brookes ensured time for her own professional development. She completed all of the training requirements and obtained Level I certification in contracting and also completed two college graduate school courses toward obtaining a Master of Business Administration with a 4.0 grade point average.

Brookes also makes time to be involved in the local community. She assists with the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course to the Key Club of Jacksonville High School and participated in the outreach program at her church which provides meals and bibles to the elderly.

Brookes' leadership, enthusiasm, competence, and team work consistently produced magnificent results and also inspired those around her.
